Dividend Income Update October 2015

Another month has gone by and it is time for a look at my dividend income for October 2015. Each month I will post my latest stock purchases for my Niche Fund – my dividend stock portfolio. My long-term plan is to buy and hold high-quality dividend paying stocks in order to enjoy the flexibility offered by the passive income stream generated by regular dividend payments.

October Dividends Received
KO – $2.61

Total for October 2015: $2.61

This small amount will contribute towards my modest goal of receiving $20 of passive dividend income by Dec 31, 2015. The holdings in my Niche Fund pay quarterly dividends so some months will have more income reflected than others. I look forward to posting another dividend income update at the end of November. I hope to make more substantial progress with each passing month as I will purchase additional shares on a monthly basis.

  1. Happy to be a fellow KO shareholder with you. This is how the DGI journey begins… with small steps. It only builds up from here as long as you buy high quality names, diversify and don’t chase high yield. Just think… your KO divvy can buy a few Cokes for the month 🙂 That’s how you have to look at your income. What monthly expense does it cover? One day it will cover your cel phone bill, Internet, electricity, gas, rent (mortgage) and more. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi DH, I was lucky to pick up KO on sale in September. I look forward to adding more in the coming months. I completely agree that high quality names at a good price are the best bet. It may be small now, but someday my KO divvy will cover some bills. For now, I plan on using all my divvies towards my monthly equity purchases. Thanks for coming by!

  2. Niche, congrats on receiving your first dividend from Coke. I agree with Keith, the journey begins with small steps. The dividend snowball starts small but grows faster and faster with each additional purchase and re-invested dividend. That’s why we entered the game and plan on riding the snowball all the way towards financial freedom.

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks Bert, it is nice to see a first dividend from a recent buy. I’m looking forward to seeing more months with multiple dividends from my holdings. I’ll get there soon, December looks like it will be my most active month for dividends since starting my snowball. Thank you for your kind words!

  3. Congrats on receiving your first dividend from KO, here’s to many to come! Rome wasn’t built in one day, neither should your dividend portfolio. One small step at a time. Keep it up.

  4. I’m just a month ahead of you in this process of trying to build a dividend portfolio. KO was one of my first purchases, as well. Good luck on getting to your $20 goal.

    1. Hi Chris, thank you for checking out my site. It is good to hear you are a fellow KO shareholder. I’m not sure I’ll hit that $20 goal, but I will no longer have any months without at least one dividend payment. Cheers
